Utilization of the Modified Carbapenem Inactivation Method (mCIM) to Screen for Carbapenemase-Producing Enterobacterales, Nebraska 2023
Carbapenemase-Producing Enterobacterales (CPE) is an urgent antimicrobial resistant (AMR) threat in the U.S. and aggressive action is
needed to reduce the spread of these high-risk pathogens. As a participant of CDC’s Antimicrobial Resistance Lab Network (ARLN), the Nebraska Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) has implemented a rapid and cost-effective modified carbapenem inactivation method (mCIM) to screen Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacterales (CRE) for carbapenemase production. Clear Labs is pleased to be able to support this initiative by deploying our fully automated Clear Dx™ Microbial Surveillance WGS application as a reflex test for robust characterization of AMR genes for samples with inconclusive or positive mCIM results.
